NaNoWriMo 2020 Journal Nov 12

Hello everyone! Today was a pretty good day. I wrote a little I the morning, then took a break to put my new yoga mat to work. After lunch I wrote a little more and ended with 1057 words. Not bad! It was mostly descriptions of clothing because my characters got to go to a smancy party… But that still counts!

I still haven’t wrapped up the chapter as I’d hoped. I tend to have longer chapters, but I’m realizing that this one will probably need to be split during revisions. But I’m not going to worry about that because I need to just keep the words flowing! It’s hard to remember sometimes that a first draft is just to get words down.

I’m going to try to really focus tomorrow and this weekend, because next week I need to start reading my book club book and so I probably won’t be putting down big word counts.

Check in tomorrow for further updates!

Keep writing,

Allison N. Moore

  1. Hello! Don’t mind me, I just happened to stumble upon this post. I used to have a problem with keeping the first draft just as a first draft, rather than reworking it over and over again. It’s good to know you’re doing alright in that aspect! Editing can always be reserved for the second draft.

Good luck with the rest of your writing!

    1. Thank you! Oh yes, I am definitely a recovering first-draft-rewriteaholic. My first book took me FOREVER to finish. Of course, that was also because when I started it, I had no clue where I was going to end up with it, haha. At least the WIP I am working on now I have a pretty clear picture (and an outline!).
