Hello, everybody! Today, I thought I’d share a bit more detailed insight into my progress this month. I decided to make a word count accountability chart to make sure I was staying on track with my goals, and, so far, it’s been a good motivator.
As some of you may recall, I took part in NaNo last November and wrote 35k that month. While I achieved my goal, I quickly realized pushing myself that hard was not a good idea because it led to major burnout and stress. However, NaNo taught me how important it is to have accountability.
This month, I didn’t have any word count goals in mind. I wanted to see how I did without any expectations. My total word count for June ended up being 17,799, with an overall project word count of 18,518, including the 719 words I wrote the last few days of May.
My average word count so far is 881 per day, so I’ve decided to set a goal for July to average closer to 1k per day. (So, hopefully, that will mean 31k added words by the end of the month.) My overall goal is to slowly increase my word count goals until I find my sweet spot between too much and too little and will be able to set more realistic timelines for myself with future projects.
Wish me luck!
Keep writing,
