Last month was pretty slow, but I finished DUAT, which is now in the edits folder and already undergone a few changes. While it is over the original desired word count by a few hundred, the anthology’s chief editor is allowing it due to several people withdrawing! I likely could cut enough to make it 10k, but I’m glad I won’t have to.
While waiting for further edits, I’ve turned my attention back to finishing the second draft of Legends of Annun: War of Souls (Sylex Meadowbrooke Chronicles Book 2). After I finish, I most likely will go back to One With Dragons to prepare for querying.
You’re probably wondering why take the time to finish War of Souls if I’m not planning to continue querying Godstones. The simple answer is, I just couldn’t leave it unfinished, haha. I’m not abandoning The Sylex Meadowbrooke Chronicles, but I imagine it will probably sit for a while before I try to do anything with it again (whether that be rewriting or self-publishing).
I already have another story idea that I’m planning to dive into while querying One With Dragons, so I’m far from giving up on traditional publishing.
Keep writing,
Allison N Moore
PS – June is PTSD awareness month. For those of you who enjoy military thrillers, I highly recommend Jason Kasper’s American Mercenary series. They really open your eyes to what it’s like to suffer from PTSD (and depression) and are also extremely entertaining. His Shadow Strike series are equally awesome. A portion of the profits from his works go to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which helps provide for the children of fallen Special Ops. Oh, and they are FREE on Kindle Unlimited! (You can also find Jason’s books on his website: https://jason-kasper.com/)
